Srinagar, Oct 28 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has revealed that over Rs 31.75 crore have been collected as application fees by recruitment agencies including the JKPSC and JKSSB since October 12, 2024, till date. In a written reply to a question by MLA Sajad Gani Lone in the Legislative Assembly, the General Administration Department (GAD), as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stated that a total of Rs 31,75,32,400 (Thirty-one crore, seventy-five lakh, thirty-two thousand and four hundred) has been realized from applicants during recruitment processes held since October last year. The government, however, shared that ‘no proposal is under consideration to abolish application fees’ charged by the recruiting agencies. “The fee collected by recruitment agencies is meant to meet administrative and operational expenses involved in conducting examinations. These include advertisement costs, processing of applications, printing of examination materials, deployment of manpower, infrastructure, and technological arrangements to ensure transparency and efficiency,” the reply stated. It further said the fee structure in J&K remains reasonable and is at par with that charged by various government recruiting agencies across the country—(KNO)
